English Literature Graduates’ Highlights

In this post English Literature students graduating in summer 2019 reflect on the highlights of their degree programmes at Portsmouth. Many congratulations to all our graduates!

Jade Lynch

‘I have really enjoyed my final year even though it has been a challenge! I found the dissertation particularly interesting, as it allowed me to explore different texts and build on a subject that I enjoy. One of the biggest highlights of the course for me is the variety of units on offer and how much we are able to learn. Every unit I took seemed to work well with others, and I found that I could use skills that I had learnt in other areas and for different projects’.

Grace Kemp

‘The best part of studying here was probably the pastoral care and support from all the lecturers throughout the three years.’

Deborah Noordermeer

‘This course has challenged me to explore different perspectives and has greatly impacted my ability to think more for myself, rather than accepting something on a surface level. What made this course more enjoyable and interesting was the fact that the lecturers are so passionate and excited about their own subject – their excitement really rubbed off on me’.

Alexander de Boick

‘My time at the University of Portsmouth has been brilliant. The lecturers make the subject engaging and always provide valuable feedback. I would highly recommend Portsmouth to anyone wanting to study English Lit’.

Emilia Walker

My time at Portsmouth has given me some of the best experiences of my life, resulting in me finally feeling more confident as a person. Studying English Literature has provided me with a wide range of skills, as it covered such a variety of different texts that it meant it was always new and interesting.’
